About Us
In 1986, Jim and Pauline Eley came to Centreville for the funeral of Pauline’s uncle and learned that the Centreville and Constantine funeral homes were for sale. Jim, a graduate of Wayne State University with a Mortuary Arts & Sciences license earned in 1960, had long dreamed of owning his own funeral home. On July 15, 1986, Jim and Pauline, along with their son Mike and daughter-in-law Jane, purchased both locations and began a tradition of compassionate, family-centered service.
Jim and Pauline moved from Vicksburg to live at the Constantine funeral home. Pauline passed away on August 27, 2008, and Jim, now retired, continues to reside in Constantine. Mike and Jane carried on the family business, making Centreville their home and raising their three children—Devon, Ryan, and Tyler—before relocating to the Constantine location in 2011. In 2016, their daughter Devon joined the firm as a third-generation funeral director after completing her training and earning her Mortuary Science license.
In early 2026, the funeral home was sold and transitioned to new local management under funeral director Michael Smith. While ownership changed, the business remains family-owned and independently operated, continuing its long-standing commitment to serving the community with dignity and care.
