Violet Virgie Samples, age 84 of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at Heartland Health Care in Three Rivers.  She was born October 20, 1925 in Justiceburg, Texas, the daughter of Rufus and Lillie (Alexander) Samples.  She is survived by her son,  Don (Angela) Barfield, Cookeville, TN, daughters, Donna (Tommy) McDonald, Constantine, Jo Ann (Mike) Peters, Montgomery, TX, one sister, Joan Bartow, Kalamazoo, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Trinity Missionary Church, Constantine, with Reverend Terry Neumayer and Reverend Brent Danielson officiating.  Interment will be at Constantine Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, Ms. Samples requested contributions be made to the Southwest Michigan Komen Foundation (200 N. Park, Kalamazoo, MI  49007) for breast cancer research or SW Michigan Hospice.
