Obituary

Thomas R. "Tom" Hippen, 68, of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away on June 23, 2026.

Tom was born on April 10, 1958, in Vicksburg, Michigan. He was a kind, honest, and hardworking man whose laid-back nature and sense of humor made him easy to be around. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures and cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

Tom dedicated many years of service to the Department of Public Works in Centreville and Mendon, where he took pride in serving his community through his work.

One of Tom's favorite pastimes was bass fishing. For many years, he fished local tournament trails alongside his son-in-law, Gary. They spent countless hours on the water together, enjoying the competition, the camaraderie, and making memories that will be treasured by those who knew him.

Tom was also a devoted Detroit Lions fan who never missed the opportunity to cheer on his team. He enjoyed the humor and comfort of watching The Golden Girls, and his faithful dog, Otis, was never far from his side.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Hippen; his stepchildren, Dusty Bennett and Jami (Gary) Butcher; his grandchildren, Joshua and Shelby Bennett; his sisters, Carol Bennett and Nancy Hippen; his brother, Tim (Mary) Hippen; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Esther Hippen.

Tom will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, kind heart, quiet sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him. His memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and time spent together by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A private family gathering to celebrate Tom's life will be held at a later date.
