Rodney Lee Cropsey, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on July 25, 1948, to Carl Cropsey and Barbara Jean Taggart.
Rodney was fortunate to call two places home. He spent half of each year in Centreville, Michigan, and the other half in Santa Fe, Texas, making memories and enjoying the best of both places. He found joy in many hobbies, including woodworking, fishing, playing poker, and working on puzzles. These simple pleasures gave him countless hours of enjoyment and provided many opportunities to spend time with family and friends.
Faith was also an important part of Rodney’s life. In Michigan, he attended the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers, and in Texas, he attended First Presbyterian Church of Dickinson. His connection to both communities was a meaningful part of the life he built in each place.
Rodney’s greatest legacy was the family he loved. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Martin and her husband, Brian Martin, and Jennifer Cropsey. He was a proud grandfather to Mackenzie Haight, Hunter Haight, Izzy Castillo, and Ozzy Castillo, and a cherished great-grandfather to Ashton Dodd, Cash Douglas, Brooklyn Douglas, Venny Castillo, and Vergil Castillo.
Rodney is also survived by his siblings, Debbie and Rodney Dickinson; David and Penny Cropsey; Daniel Cropsey; Donald and Sue Cropsey; Douglas and Kathie Cropsey; and Kristin Dobson and her son, Cutler Dobson.
He will be remembered by his family and all who knew him for the life he shared with them and the memories they created together. His love for his family will continue through the generations he leaves behind.
Though he is no longer with us, Rodney’s memory will live on in the hearts of his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends who were blessed to know him.
Funeral services for Rodney will be held at Eley Funeral Homes, 235 W. Burr Oak St., Centreville, Michigan 49032 on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather together to honor Rodney’s life from 12:00 pm until the time of services and share in the memories of a man who will be deeply missed at the funeral home.
Rodney will be laid to rest immediately following services at the Prairie River Cemetery.
