Rod A. Borgert , a ge 68 of Sherman Township, died unexpectedly May 2, 2023 at his home. He was born August 8, 1954 in Sturgis, a son of Dan and LaVonne (Hamm) Borgert. Rod graduated from Centreville High School in 1972. Rod was the 4th generation to farm and live on his great grandfathers farm. He was an outstanding fast pitch softball pitcher and player, having played on several area teams. Rod especially loved playing on a team with his father and two other father son duos. He was a member of Farm Bureau and enjoyed hunting. Rod enjoyed attending farm auctions where he loved to talk with many farmers and family gatherings talking with his cousins.

Surviving are his mother LaVonne Borgert,Sturgis, and special family Melissa Mack, TX, Jessica Duncan, OR, and David Pokorny, Paw Paw, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 2011.

Graveside services will be held Saturday May 6, 2023 at 3 PM at Nottawa Township Cemetery, with Pastor Clint Zehr, Pastor David Peterson, and Pastor Jeremy Chesley officiating.
