Robert L. Thayer, age 87 of Mendon, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at his home. He was born September 9, 1935 in Centreville, a son of Mason and Elma (Daugherty) Thayer. Robert graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1953. He married Melva Branham, she preceded him in death in 1997.

Robert worked grounds maintenance at Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. He loved living on the river and traveling to the Upper Peninsula. Robert also enjoyed mowing and helping his neighbors at the river.

Surviving Robert are his sons Steven Thayer, Elkhart and Michael Thayer, Kentwood; daughters Cathi (Dan) Smith. Elkhart and Kimberly (Colleen Drury) Thayer, The Villages, FL; daughter-in-law Lauri Thayer, Palmetto, FL; grandchildren Matthew (Brianna) Smith and Kristen Smith; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Robert Thayer and brother Richard Thayer.
