Obituary

Richard H. Clark, 90, of Centreville, passed away February 2, 2018 at his home. He was born in Parkville Township on October 2, 1927, a son of William and Marie (Phillips) Clark. Rich went to Centreville Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. from 1946-1947. On October 20, 1948 he married Mary Jane Fitch. She preceded him in death January of 1963. On September 27, 1963, he married Berdiena Black in LaPorte, IN.

Rich was a farmer and also worked at Denton Mills in Centreville, Lux Co. in Elkhart, and G.M. in Three Rivers. He was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 23 in Ft. Meade. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing. Rich was a very talented woodworker, making rocking chairs, deck swings, toys and games for his family.

Surviving Rich are his wife Berdiena Clark of Centreville, children Sandi Clark of Centreville, Steven (Sharon) Clark of Centreville, Thomas (Linda) Clark of Baldwin, MI, and Sally (Jake) Root of Burr Oak; stepchildren Debra (Bob) Soule of Kalamazoo, Michael (Sue) Zeeb of Mishawaka, Eric (Peggy) Zeeb of Crescent City, CA, and Randal (Carol) Zeeb of Angola, IN; siblings James Clark of Centreville, Carol Rudolff of White Pigeon, and Alice Loudenslager of Burr Oak; 36 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary Jane (Fitch) Clark, and siblings Phillip Clark, Edward Clark, Jack Clark, Lee Clark, Robert Clark, Marge Staples, and Marilyn Pardon.

Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Religious services will be held 11 am Thursday at Centreville United Methodist Church. Pastor Emily Hansson and Pastor Dave Szymczak of Great Lakes Hospice, will officiate. Interment of ashes will occur at a later date in Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Centreville Methodist Church.
