Obituary

R. Lamar Rodgers, age 93 of Lake Templene, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at his home. He was born in Mishawaka, IN on April 12, 1929, a son of Elmer and Dortha (Maudlin) Rodgers. Lamar graduated from Mishawaka High School. On June 5, 1948 he married Patricia Forst in Mishawaka. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2006. Lamar worked at the Studebaker automoblie company and as a machinist for several companies. He finally worked as Public Works Director for the city of Darien, IL, retiring after 20 years.

Lamar had been a member of the Lions' Club in Illinois and the school board for Lace School in Darien, IL, served on the Nottawa Township Board, and was former Lake Templene LTPOA streets manager. He participated on several bowling teams and loved fishing.

Surviving Lamar are his son Robert (Barbara) Rodgers of Sturgis; grandchildren Jamie (Joe) Fanara and their children Jase & Jessie; Joey (Nicole) DeMaria and their children Kendall, Luca and Kate; Jackie (Rick) Bertenshaw and their children Evie & Lucy; Jessica (Danny) Yama, John (Tracy) Kunes and their children Mitchell and Charlotte; Mike (Cathy) Rodgers and their children Mike & Eve; Garrett (Molly) Rodgers, Steven Rodgers; and sister Joanne Hunt of Ft. Wayne, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons Larry Rodgers and Randy Rodgers; sister Janet Kipp and brother Gerald Rodgers.

Relatives and friends will be received Saturday from 4-7 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. According to his wishes cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of your choice.
