Neil W.Hagelgans, age 75, of Centreville, passed away Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 at his home. He was born in Three Rivers, on February 5, 1936,  a son of  Richard C. and Virginia R. (Sloan) Hagelgans. Neil graduated from Centreville High School in 1954 and served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961.  On May 10, 1955 Neil married Mary Lou Huston in Burr Oak. Neil worked as a Railroad Engineer for NY Central, Penn Central and later retired from Conrail after 40 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards and was most proud of his family, cherishing spending time with them.



Surviving are his wife Mary Lou Hagelgans, Centreville, daughters LaNel Shimano, Laguna Niguel, CA, Chelina (Victor) Schultz, Buffalo, MO, son William Hagelgans, Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren Marlena Hagelgans, Jacksonville, FL, Melanie Shimano and Marisa Shimano, Laguna Niguel, CA, Victoria Schultz and Elisha Schultz, Buffalo, MO, sisters Lathorlyn Balk, Centreville, Rosann (William) Harmon, Three Rivers, brother Robert (Judy) Hagelgans, Centreville. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Junior Hagelgans and sister Joyce Thigpen.



Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm  at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville where Religious Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 2nd,  with Pastor Clint Zehr officiating. Interment will be in the  Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Living Center. Online messages may be left for the family below.
