Myrtle Emma Brueck, age 91 of Centreville, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers. Myrtle was born July 10, 1919 in Centreville, a daughter of Fred and Myrtle Harding. She lived all her life in Centreville, graduating from Centreville High School in 1936. On July 24, 1937, she married LeRoy Brueck in LaGrange, IN. He preceded her in death on October 13,1995.
Myrtle was employed as a waitress, clerked at the dime store, served at the ice cream parlor in Centreville, worked at the St. Joseph County Health Department, Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the St. Joseph County Grange Fair. She was also bookkeeper of L.E. Brueck Construction, of which she and her late husband owned. She was a great fan of the Centreville Bulldogs. Her hobbies were collecting newspaper articles, sending cards to friends and family, and watching TV. Myrtle and LeRoy were chosen Centreville's Citizens of the year in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Myrtle will be greatly missed by her children, David & Sandra Brueck, Three Rivers, Karen & Charles Anable and Craig & Sandy Brueck all of Centreville, her grandchildren, Debra & James Gaugier, Vicksburg, Jeffrey & Kathi Brueck, Three Rivers, Dianne & Scott Weiderman, Centreville, John & Donna Brueck, Constantine, Linsey & Jerome Wolff, Sturgis, Ryan & Samantha Brueck, Centreville, great grandchildren Eric & Cassie Weiderman, Laurie & Chad Beck, Gavin Brueck, all of Centreville, Sara Gaugier, Holt, Mark Gaugier, E. Lansing, Connor and Evan Brueck, Three Rivers, Ella Wolff, Sturgis, great great granddaughter Maddi Weiderman, Centreville, sister-in-law, Helen Engle, Colon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband, 5 sisters, and 1 brother.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday from 10:00 am until 12:00 p.m. at St. Pau's Lutheran Church in Centreville where Religious Services will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor David Grimm officiating. Interment will be at Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville. Memorials may be directed to the church. Online messages may be left for the family below.
