Michael Robert Mercer, known to many as Mike, passed away on October 24, 2026, in Constantine, Michigan, at the age of 68.

Mike was born on April 27, 1958, in Three Rivers, Michigan, and he spent his life with a strong appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys that brought people together. He was a man who valued loyalty, kindness, and time well spent with those he loved.

Mike loved racing and followed it with enthusiasm throughout his life. He also loved fishing, finding peace and enjoyment in time spent outdoors. Whether he was sharing stories, enjoying a quiet moment by the water, or talking about the excitement of a race, Mike embraced the things that brought him happiness. He loved his family deeply, and that love was evident in the way he lived.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Mercer and Shelly (Josh Blount) Hamminga. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Drake (Jordan Mixon) Blount and Bentley Hamminga, as well as his great-granddaughter, Mara Blount. Mike is also survived by his mother, Carol Rumsey and her husband, Bill, his sisters, Christine Cox and her husband, Rich, and Jane Sutton and her husband, Larry, along with his step-siblings, Steve Rumsey and his wife, Hillary, and Nick Rumsey.

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet in May 2026, his brother, Dave Mercer, and his father, Robert “Rocky” Mercer.

He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of racing and fishing, and the genuine care he showed to those around him. His family and friends will hold close the many memories of his laughter, his stories, and the love he gave so freely.

Though his passing leaves a deep void, Mike’s legacy lives on in the family he treasured and in the lives he touched. His memory will continue to bring comfort, strength, and lasting affection to those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at the Constantine American Legion, 65079 US-131 BUS, Constantine, MI 49042.
