Mary Jane Hunter, age 91, of Constantine, passed away Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at Birch Adult Foster Care in Leonidas. She was born in Florence Twp. on April 19, 1917, a daughter of Jess and Fannie (Worthington) Leister. Mary graduated from Constantine High School in 1935. On August 14, 1937 she married Donald Hunter in LaGrange, IN. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2001. Mary worked at Kirsch Company in the 1930's until 1941, when she and Don purchased the family farm in Florence Township. In addition to running the farm and raising her family, Mary enjoyed gardening, working in her greenhouse, and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved time with family and friends and preparing meals for them.

Mary is survived by her 3 sons, Robert (Patricia) Hunter of Pickford, Douglas (Rose Mary) Hunter of Constantine, and Gary (Sandra) Hunter of Constantine. Also surviving are her grandchildren Mike Hunter, Marc Hunter, Nicole Hunter, Tod Hunter, Tonya Hunter, Brad Hunter, Megan Hunter, Amy Butler, Fred Burnett and Ben Burnett, great grandchildren Madison, Ross, Carson, Maxwell, Maya, Nico, and Justin Hunter and Abigail and Alexandra Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Madelyn Timm and Wilma (Dolly) Ream, and 4 brothers Ralph Leister, Jesse Leister, Oris Leister and Otis Leister.

Relatives and friends will be received Friday 4-8 PM and Saturday from 10-11 AM, at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville, where Religious Services will follow Saturday at 11:00 AM. Reverend Stan Kesler of Three Rivers Bible Church will officiate. Interment will be at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Birch Adult Foster Care Hospice Suite.
