Madilyn R. Mast, age 95 of Constantine, formerly of Beaverton, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 at her home. She was born April 27, 1927 in Ithaca, MI, daughter of Merril and Hazel (Griner) Hunter. Madilyn graduated from Midland High School in 1945, achieving a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education with a minor in English from Michigan State University in 1949. She then went on to receive a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Central Michigan University. On June 6, 1949 she married Stanley J.Berriman in Midland and then on April 16, 1977 she married Durwood Mast in Midland. He preceded her in death in 2014.

Madilyn worked for Midland Public Schools as a physical education teacher and swimming instructor. She later worked for Howe Racing in Beaverton. Madilyn was a member of the Christian Celebration Center Church in Midland. She was also a member and past-president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3655 in Albright Shores. Madilyn enjoyed rock collecting and making jewelry. She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and swimming and any physical activity including softball and bowling.

Surviving Madilyn are her children Joseph Berriman, Connie (Scott Larson) Grove, Lori (Steve) Rathburn, Beth (Ron) DeWitt; step-children Tim (Cathy) Mast, Joe Mast, Mary Ann Mast, Duane (Nora) Mast and Margaret Mast, brother Don (Maxine) Hunter; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Merril and Hazel Hunter; sisters Marilyn VanBuren and Barbara Scott; first husband Stanley J. Berriman, second husband Durwood Mast; and step-son Michael Mast.

Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine from 5-7 PM. A private family service will be held. Graveside service and interment will be Wednesday at 1PM at Sunfield Cemetery in Sunfield, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
