Obituary

Lou (Young) Clark, age 85 of Constantine, passed away  Sunday, August 19th, 2012 at her home. Lou was born at home on April 15, 1927 to  K. D. and Ruth (Vought) Young on a farm near Wheeler in Gratiot County, Michigan. She married Robert William Clark on September 30, 1950. They had 57 years of marriage before Robert passed away on August 30, 2007. They moved to Constantine in 1955. She was a member of the 1st Congregational U.C.C.Her elementary education was in one-room country schools in Gratiot and St. Joseph Counties. She graduated from Centreville High School in 1945. After graduating, Lou worked for 8 years in the office of the County School Commissioner and was the County Rural School Librarian. Later in Constantine, she worked at the Harvey House and El Rose Cafe' (before it became the Village Inn), and worked many years at harvest season for Pioneer Seed Co.She enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidery, puzzles, and playing Scrabble with daughters and granddaughters. Lately, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Surviving are her sons  Robert Clark of Elkhart,  Don (Pam) Clark of LaGrange,  Jerrold (Karen) Clark of Three Rivers, daughters Joetta (Jeff) Blough of Shipshewana, Diane Clark of White Pigeon, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Maudie (Allen) Coss of Nokomis, IL, Margaret (Jr.) Shears of Centreville, brother  Tom (Lois) Young of Centreville,  many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, son Dale Clark, daughters Judith Papke and Jane Wells, grandchildren Jocelyn and Kevin and three brothers Darwin, Kermit and Claude.Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine where Religious Services will be held at  11:00 A.M. on Thursday,  with Reverend Dennis Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Constantine Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the 1st Congregational U.C.C or Three Rivers Health Homecare and Hospice.
