Obituary

Lori E. Schneider, born on March 6, 1961, in Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on April 26, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devoted service to others.

Lori lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and quiet grace. She was a loving and kind woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her. Those who knew her will remember her warm heart, gentle spirit, and the steady care she offered so freely to family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Her career as a nurse was her true calling, and she considered it a privilege to care for others during their most vulnerable moments. Lori approached her work with deep empathy and a sincere desire to ease suffering and bring reassurance to those in her care. She understood the importance of compassion in the healing process, and she gave of herself with patience, professionalism, and a genuine concern for every person she served. Her dedication to nursing reflected the very best of who she was, and her impact extended far beyond the walls of any workplace.

Family was central to Lori’s life, and she treasured the time she spent with her children, Wayne Schneider and Jody Schneider. She found great joy in being with them and took pride in the love and bond they shared. Lori is also survived by her sisters, Lisa (Bill) Elijah and Lynn (David) Ebbole, who will carry her memory with love and gratitude. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Schneider, on February 3, 2020, as well as by her parents. The love of her family remained an enduring source of strength throughout her life, and she gave that love back generously and without hesitation.

Lori enjoyed spending time with her children and her dog, Gunner, whose companionship brought her comfort and happiness. These moments of togetherness were among the most meaningful in her life. Whether sharing a simple conversation, enjoying the company of loved ones, or spending quiet time at home, Lori found joy in the connections that made life rich and memorable.

She will be remembered not only for the care she gave as a nurse, but also for the way she lived her life with kindness and love. Lori had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and cared for, and that gift will remain part of her legacy. Her life was a testament to the power of compassion, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

Though her passing leaves a deep void, the example Lori set through her life will endure. She will be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude for the many ways she enriched the lives of others. Her gentle nature, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering kindness will not be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life for Lori will be announced at a later date.
