Lois A. Hassenger, age 76, Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, February 12th, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born April 7, 1934 in Columbia City, IN, a daughter of Ralph and Lura (Kneller) Smith. Lois attended Centreville & Three Rivers Schools. On September 2, 1950 she married Stanley Hassenger at St. John's Lutheran Church in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2007. Lois was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with the "Yappers Campers" and had been a Girl Scout Leader and a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Surviving Lois are her daughter, Marie Hassenger, Centreville, son Mark (Bonnie) Hassenger, Constantine, grandson, Craig Hassenger, Constantine, sisters, Joan Oxender of Solon, OH, Irma (Guy) Johnson, Constantine, Sara "Sally" (Dale) Stuby, Constantine, Susan (Dave) Outman, Constantine, brother, Benton (Suzi) Alexander, Anchorage, AK, brother and sister in law Avis and Allen Baldwin, Three Rivers and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Three Rivers with Pastor Karleen Kinker officiating. Interment will be in Constantine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
