Obituary

Lila L. Mostrom of Sturgis, Michigan, passed away November 6, 2025, at The Birches in Leonidas, Michigan, following an extended illness and surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 14, 1942 in Sturgis, Michigan, a daughter of Milton and Eunice (Brouse) Cattell.

Lila attended Centreville High School, where she enjoyed cheerleading with her sister Myrna, and where she met the love of her life.

On November 23, 1957, she married Wayne Mostrom at the Baptist Church in LaGrange, Indiana.  By God's grace, they enjoyed 68 years of loving and caring for each other.  Together they raised six children, moving from Indiana to Fish Lake in Sturgis, Michigan in 1973, where they all developed a love for the water and still reside.  New Smyrna Beach was a favorite winter destination with Wayne, spending time collecting seashells along the Atlantic shoreline.

In 1979, Wayne and Lila started Mostrom & Assoc., Land Surveying in Centreville, Michigan, where it continues to thrive under the direction of their children.

Lila was a member of Fish Lake Bible Church, where she spent many years teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  She was a member of the Women's Missionary Committee years ago and had a great passion to support the ministry of Pregnancy Helpline in Sturgis.  Lila had a deep love for Jesus and knew Him as her Savior.  She had longed for the moment to call heaven her home.

Surviving are her husband Wayne Mostrom, children Kim Weber, David (Cathleen) Mostrom, Cheryl (Michael) Presnell, Lori (Daniel) King, Vicky (Gregory) Miller, Douglas (Nicole) Mostrom, son-in-law Mark Weber, 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, brother Randy (Judy) Jones, sister-in-law Janet Cattell, brothers-in-law Raymond (Linda) Mostrom, Simon Kemp, Red Rodgers and several nieces and nephews.  Lila was preceded in death by her parents Milton Cattell and Eunice (Cattell) Jones, brother Eldon Cattell, sister Myrna Rodgers and sister-in-law Linda Kemp.

Relatives and friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, November 12th and 10 to 11 am on Thursday, November 13th at Fish Lake Bible Church, Sturgis.  A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 13th at the church with Pastor Timothy Brondyke officiating.  Burial will be in the Fish Lake Bible Church Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Temple Baptist Word of Life Camp Fund, (checks payable to Temple Baptist Church) or Pregnancy Helpline of Sturgis.
