July 2, 1944 – December 15, 2023
Lester Oren Rigg, age 79 of Constantine, MI and formerly of Brown County, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at his home. He was born July 2, 1944 in Quincy, IL, a son of Otis David and Violet Marie (Clapp) Rigg. Lester attended school in Mt Sterling, IL. On June 22, 1968 he married Betty Jane Jobe at the Chambersburg Christian Church in Chambersburg, IL.
Mr Rigg served in the US Army for 2 years during the Vietnam Era, and was a factory worker for Oscar Mayer, Tyson Chicken and Gunite Corporation. Lester was known as a jokester and always enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family playing cards and dice. He was a member of FaithFinders Church of Constantine.
Surviving are his wife Betty Rigg, of Constantine, MI, 3 children James Oren Rigg of Constantine, Barbara Jean Rigg Tinyszin (Mark) of Three Rivers, Melissa Charlene Rigg Stoddard (Ray) of Mottville, MI, two grandchildren, Leslie Ann DeVore Wagner of Vermottville, MI and Adam Jacob DeVore (Cassie) of Flora, IL, two step grandchildren, Sara Davis of Jacksonville, FL and Alex Tinyszin of Jacksonville, FL, four great grandchildren, Marie Ann Wagner of Vermottville, MI, Ejona Irene Bartha DeVore, Besijana Sophia Mae DeVore, and Jacob Alan Gene DeVore, all of Flora, IL, one sister Willa Courier, of Illinois, and three brothers, John of Illinois, David of Arkansas, Jim of Illinois, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers James Otis, Wendell, Melvin, Albert, and his twin brother Chester, and four sisters Alice Henninger, Ellen Ashbaker, Mary Henninger and Edith Jobe.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held with Pastor Rita Austin, FaithFinders Church officiating. Military honors will be held. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to FaithFinders Church, 229 W. 2nd St., Constantine, MI. 49042.
