Lavon Russell Storms, age 90, of Centreville, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Beacon Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born on May 29, 1935 in Three Rivers to Clare and Maude Storms. He graduated from Centreville High School in 1953.
Lavon was a life-long farmer, and a portion of his farm has been in his family for nearly 150 years. He liked to read about the latest news and innovations in agriculture. Many years ago, he was one of the first farmers in the county to adopt the no-till method of farming. He was a hardworking man who had a knack for repairing equipment and just about anything else.
He was a quiet, soft-spoken, kind, and gentle man with a quick smile who was well-liked by many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church, taking drives through the countryside, and reading. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Centreville FFA Alumni Association and the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers-Centreville.
Lavon married Agnes Scare on August 17, 1957 in Centreville. They shared 68 wonderful years together. He was a treasured husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife; children, Marie Storms, Darlene Renshaw, Perry Storms, Nelson Storms, and Wesley (Alecia) Storms; and grandchildren, Luke Renshaw, Jacob Renshaw, Isabella Storms, Esther Storms, and baby Storms on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Dale.
Visitation and a memorial service for Lavon will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Eley Funeral Home, 235 W. Burr Oak St., Centreville, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by a service at 3:00 p.m.
