Obituary

Laura M. Baker, 84, of Constantine, went to be with her Lord on December 3, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 23, 1933 in Staten Island, NY, a daughter of Angelo and Hannah (Martin) Suarez. Laura served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1952 as a clerk typist. On November 5, 1977 Laura married Frederick Baker in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death July 8, 2014.

Laura retired from Dayco International in Three Rivers in 1995 after many years of employment. She previously worked at Denton Mills in Centreville.

Laura was a member of the Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene for more than 50 years. She was a children's Sunday School teacher, member of the Dare to Care team, choir, quizzing director & served in many other ministries. Laura loved Jesus and her church. Her best pals were the "Monday Lunch Bunch" gals. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing and crafts. She especially cherished her time with family and loved Thanksgivings when all the family came together.

Surviving are her daughter Linda (Ken) Tabbert, Three Rivers, sons Paul (Lou) Carlson, Allen, TX, and Christopher (Dawn) Carlson, Watervliet; step children Margaret Ann Baker, Sturgis, Nancy (Bill) Hill, Constantine, Ralph (Susan) Baker, Lexington, OH, and Steven (Deborah) Baker, Sturgis; grandchildren David (Rebeccah) Tabbert, Capt. Kyle (Hillary) Carlson, Noel Carlson, Nicole Carlson, Marisa Carlson, and Christina Carlson; step grandchildren Ashley Baker, Lt. Noah Baker, Erin (Tom) Los, Alison Baker, Emily (Randall) Baker– Fees, Christopher Hill, and Nicole (Lucas) LaGesse; great grandchildren Graham, Layla, and Ezra Tabbert and Eden, Isabella, Gabriel, and Harrison Carlson; step great grandchildren Sebastian and Conrad Los, Jillian and Flynn LaGesse, and Christian and Nathen Hill; brother Henry (Karen) Suarez, South Carolina, and sisters Matilda Pannazzo, Staten Island, NY and Margaret Janes, Old Bridge, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands James Carlson and Fred Baker, brothers David, Gus, Aggie and John Suarez, and sister Violet.

Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-7 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious services will be held 11 am Wednesday at Church of the Nazarene, Three Rivers, Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Poes Cemetery, Jones.
