Joel Sorensen, age 42 of South Bend, IN, formerly of Constantine, passed away April 1, 2023 at the Brickyard Fountainview Care Center in Mishawaka, IN following a lengthy illness . He was born in Chicago, IL, on April 23, 1980, a son of Rev. Matthew and Sheree (North) Sorensen. Joel graduated from Constantine High School in 1998, and later obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business from Western Michigan University. On June 7, 2008 he married Elise Miller at Epworth United Methodist Church in South Bend, they were later divorced.

Surviving Joel are his mother Sheree Sorensen, Constantine, son David Joel Sorensen and his mother Elise Sorensen, both of S Bend, brother Daniel (Megan) Sorensen, Constantine, sister Sarah (Garett) Borst, Schoolcraft, nephews Matthew and Jack Sorensen, grandmother Wilma North, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Matthew Sorensen, grandparents Jack & Donna Sorensen and Gerald North.

Joel's family would like to sincerely thank Memorial Hospital in South Bend and Asera Care Hospice for their compassionate care during this time. According to Joel's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held and Joel's ashes will be placed in the columbarium at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo.
