Janet Ellen Mercer, age 69, of Constantine, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

She was born on February 26, 1957, in New Castle, IN, to Larry & Shirley Bittner.

Janet married Michael Mercer on February 10, 1979.

She worked at Syndicate Systems, Centurion Vehicles and later Walmart.

Janet enjoyed camping, spending time with her grandson, playing cards with her family and playing Yahtzee.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Mercer; children, Jennifer Mercer and Shelly (Josh Blount) Hamminga; grandsons, Bentley Hamminga and Drake (Jordan Mixon) Blount; great-granddaughter, Mara Blount; siblings, Rebecca Smith, Larry "Butch" (Tammy) Bittner Jr., Timothy (Leslie) Bittner; several nieces, nephews and other family.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Eley Funeral Home, 280 South Washington Street, Constantine. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm.
