Obituary

Jack W. Wood, age 89, of Centreville, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, MI. He was born on March 7, 1937 in Muskegon to Raymond & Bessie (Zavix) Wood. Jack graduated from Muskegon High School in 1955. Jack married the former Joan Miller on September 6, 1958 who preceded him in death.

He worked in his father's shoe store where he first met Joan. He tells the story of how, when Joan walked into the store, he said to his dad, "I've got this one!". They married, and later Jack made a career working for General Telephone and Equipment (GTE) as an equipment installer, eventually managing a team of personnel.

Jack loved the Lord and loved his church. He was a longstanding member of Fish Lake Bible Church where he served as a choir member, trustee, deacon, treasurer, youth group leader, adult Sunday school teacher, and co-founded a group for seniors known as the Super Sixties. He was a faithful servant.

Survivors include sons, David (Marsha) Wood, Eaton Rapids, Brian (Mary Ann) Wood, Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Shanda (James) Jacobs, Sara Upshur, Joshua Wood, Andrew Wood; great-grandchildren, Jeffry, Dawson, Piper, Cora, Elin, Nolan and Dani.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Kim (Wood) Adams, sister, Joan Wood, and brother, Jerry Wood.
