Helena Estell Oldenberg, age 90, of Centreville, passed away Thursday, December 18th, 2008 at the Fairview Living Centre in Centreville. She was born in St. Joseph Co., MI on October 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Claude Vernon and Geneva May (VanZile) Wagner. Helena graduated from Centreville High School in 1936. On January 30, 1941 she married Roy D. Oldenberg in Defiance, Ohio. He preceded her in death August 19, 1981. Helena worked as a seamstress at Denton Mills in Centreville for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1980. She had also worked at Lambknit in Colon. Helena formerly attended the Assembly of God in Three Rivers.
Surviving are her daughter Diane (Michael) Besser of Sturgis, grandchildren Roland ( Nancy) Oldenberg Jr., Sturgis, Deana Besser, Portland, MI and James (Jessica) Besser, Goshen, IN, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband son Roland L. Oldenberg, Sr., daughter in law Susan Oldenberg, and sisters Margaret Marshall and Velma Dener.
Cremation has taken place. Services are private at the convenience of family. Interment of Ashes will be in the Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Arrangements are being handled by the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville.
