Obituary

George Wayne Coomer, age 62 of Centreville, died at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo on November 24, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and friends after a valiant four year battle with cancer.

George was born in Sturgis, September 21, 1952 to Robert and Wilma (Davis) Coomer of Nottawa. He graduated from Centreville High school in 1970 and was a graduate of KCC in Battle Creek. George married the love of his life Michele Denise Day on April 8, 1971. He was a successful farmer and in 1980 was awarded Conservation Farmer of the Year. George also earned a Master Electricians contractor's License and had a small business called Coomer Electric. He was a member of the Centreville Baptist Church.

George was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and friend. He always made people feel welcomed and was always willing to share selflessly with others. He was a wonderful grandpa and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. George was an avid fisherman and taught his grandchildren how to fish.

He is survived by his Wife Michele, son, Max (Tara) Coomer of Sheridan Wyoming, two daughters Melissa (Mark) Major of Centreville, and Billie Jo (Dustin) Hardesty of Farmington Hills, nine grandchildren, Autumn, Zane, Mya, Leiam, Brooke, Evan, Ella, Chloe and Fredrick, 3 sisters including Rita Decker of Centreville, 2 brothers, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Wilma, brother in law Douglas Decker and many loved ones along the way.

Relatives and friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Religious services will be held 11 am Saturday at the Centreville Baptist Church with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Centreville Baptist Church or Goshen Cancer Center.
