Esther Leota Furey, 87 of Three Rivers, passed away May 25, 2021 at her home.Esther was born in Salem, IL on January 20, 1934, a daughter of Vernie and Ada (Wooley) Jones. She attended schools in Salem, IL, and later obtained her GED from Three Rivers High School before attending courses at Glen Oaks Community College. In 1951, she married Kenneth L. Jasper, Sr. in Illinois; they were later divorced. On July 28, 1979, she married Clarence Furey; he preceded her in death in 2004. Esther worked for American Axle in Three Rivers, retiring in 1999.
Surviving are her son Kenneth L. Jasper, Jr. of Belleville, IL, grandchildren Shawn King of Livonia, MI, Christine Barney of Dowagiac, MI, Scott Barney of Dowagiac, MI, Andrew Jasper of O'Fallon, IL, Jeff Jasper of Belleville, IL, and Justin Jasper of Belleville, IL; great granddaughter Kaitlyn Jasper; great grandsons Cannon Guntle and Ethin Barney; sister Beaulah Prosise of Rockford, IL, sister Freda (Kenneth) Jennings of Flora, IL, sister-in-law Carolyn Jones of Salem, IL, stepsons John, Dave, and Scott Furey; stepdaughter Carolyn (Tom) Zieminski; 5 step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence Furey; daughter Tina M. Jasper; brothers Teddy, Bill, and Gene (Alice) Jones; sisters Violet Spencer, Mary Alice Tockstein, and Jewel Chandler; brother-in-law Kenneth Jennings; 2 nephews; and 1 niece.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday, June 1 from 1-2 PM at Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. A religious graveside service will follow at 2:15 at the Constantine Township Cemetery, with Pastor PJ Horn, Corey Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
