Obituary

Erma Lee (Carmack) Skipper, Age 92, died September 7, 2026. She was born August 8, 1934 in Cardwell, Missouri to Chester and Gladys Carmack, both deceased.

She married Jimmy Dale Skipper of Arbyrd, Missouri on November 24, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2014. She is survived by one daughter, Martha Elaine (Brian [Chip] Leister) Skipper-Leister of Vandalia Michigan, two grandsons, Tyler Graham Leister of Vandalia Michigan, Lewis Trent (Harshini Avula) Leister of West Bloomfield, Michigan, two great grandchildren, Liam Ganesha, and Ariya Vesper Leister both of West Bloomfield Michigan, and one sister, Ida Mae Hyde of Paragould, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by one son, Brady Trent Skipper, and one daughter, Telera Rene’ Skipper, and one sister, Lovidee Hyde.

She was a wonderful caregiver whose nurturing spirit touch the lives of many, including many years as a foster mother.

In her younger years, she was actively involved with the youth at Chapel Hill Church, where she enjoyed sharing her love of children through story time and puppet shows. She had a special way of making children feel loved, welcomed, and important.

But above all else, her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. It could truly be said that the sun rose and set with them. Her family was her greatest joy and her greatest legacy.

She was a friend to many, and those who knew her will remember her kindness, generosity, caring heart, and the love she so freely gave. She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but the lasting imprint of a life spent caring for and loving others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Erma’s family will greet relatives and friends at 10:00 am on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Chapel Hill Missionary Church, 14525 Chapel Hill St, Union, MI 49130 with funeral services following at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Shavehead Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Erma’s memory may be directed to Chapel Hill Youth.
