Duane A. Schwartz, age 65, of Howe, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2026, after a hard 6 year battle after COVID, leaving behind a life marked by faith, devotion, hard work, and deep love for his family.

He was born on December 13, 1960, in Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of Eli and Clara Schwartz. Duane grew up with strong family values and carried those values throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Clara Schwartz, and by his brother, Robert Schwartz; father and mother-in-law, Lavern and P. Louise Taylor along with brothers-in-law, Norman Taylor and Jason Wagner.

Duane graduated from Colon High School and later continued his education with great determination and pride. He recently celebrated the achievement of earning his Bachelor’s degree from Edge Bible College, a milestone that reflected both his commitment to learning and his enduring desire to grow in his faith. His accomplishment was a source of joy to him and to those who loved him.

Duane was united in marriage to Diane Schwartz, his wife of 45 years, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and shared devotion. Their marriage was a lasting example of commitment and partnership. He was a proud and loving father to Erin (Joshua) Bell, Aimie (Nicholas) Sanderson, and Elijah (Leora) Schwartz. He also cherished his grandchildren, Lauryn, Madilynn, Savannah, Lynsie, Lillian, and Klaire, each of whom brought him great happiness and pride.

He is also survived by five brothers, seven sisters, and several nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who will remember him with love and gratitude. Duane valued family above all else, and those who knew him best understood that family was always at the center of his life. He was a steady presence, a loyal supporter, and a man who made those around him feel cared for and important.

Duane was a devoted racing fan and a loyal Detroit Lions fan. He also took great pride in doing things carefully and well. He was detail oriented and found satisfaction in working on clocks, a craft that suited his patience and precision.

Duane was a man of faith. He fiercely loved and served the Lord, and his life was a testimony to his beliefs. His faith guided his decisions, strengthened his relationships, and shaped the way he treated others. Those who knew him will remember a man who lived with purpose and who sought to honor God in all that he did.

Duane will be remembered for his strong work ethic as a devoted employee for 16 years at Burr Oak Tool working as a supervisor and treating his staff like family and knowing they treated him the same. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, faith, and dedication will remain a lasting comfort to those who mourn his passing.

Memorial services for Duane will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Firm Foundation Ministries, 651 E. Main St., Centreville, MI 49032.

Duane’s family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, August 3, 2026 also being held at Firm Foundation Ministries.

A private family interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the EDGE Bible College through Firm Foundation Ministries.
