Doris Mae Murphy, age 69 of Constantine passed away Saturday February 7th, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Plainwell. She was born in Mishawaka, IN on March 26, 1939, a daughter of William and Coral (Thornton) Henning. Doris graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1957. While working at the Studebaker Co. she met George Murphy Jr. They were united in marriage August 31, 1962 in Niles. She was employed by various departments of Constantine Schools from 1977 to 2001. Doris built and administered the family photography business for over 20 years. She enjoyed basket weaving and traveling with her family. Doris was a member of the Barry Historical Society, and the Mary Ann Club with Studebaker. She enjoyed gardening, and had an abiding love of Boston Terriers, and of Boris her Boston Terrier in particular. Surviving are her husband George Murphy, Constantine, daughter and son in law Nadine and Brad Knapp of Indianapolis, IN, son and daughter in law George and Yuka Murphy III of Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents. Relatives and friends will be received Friday February 13,2009 from 6-8 pm at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine.
