September 13, 1957 – February 19, 2025
Donald A. Holden, age 67 of Constantine, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at his home. He was born September 13, 1957 in Three Rivers, a son of Clarence and Anna (Mercer) Holden. Don attended Three Rivers High School with the class of 1975, later obtaining his degree in 1983. He worked for Chenoweth Roofing in Three Rivers, and at Days Molding. Don Wass also an E.M.T. for Three Rivers in the 1980's. He later retired as a truck driver, working for American Metal Fab in Three Rivers and TTS Trucking in White Pigeon.
Don was a member of the American Legion Post #223 S.A.L. in Constantine, where he volunteered many hours working Bingo and the Sunday breakfasts as well as many long weekends with the boat racers during the summer. He was also a member of the St. Joe Valley Old Engine Club. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #410 for over 20 years, where he served as Scout Master, helping develop 17 Eagle Scouts, including his two sons. Don also enjoyed racing and wrenching with his sons.
Surviving Don are his wife Penny Holden, Constantine; sons Shawn Holden, Constantine and Matthew (Katelyn) Holden, Sturgis, grandchildren Nolan, Braxton, Dylan, Miley and MaKenna; brothers Douglas (Rebecca) Holden, Kalamazoo, Jeffrey (Sherrie) Holden, Three Rivers, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs Izzy and Rusty. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Judith Holtz; and niece Ruth Nicholls-Bernyk.
Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received at the American Legion Arthur E. Stears Post #223 on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 4-5 PM, with a Celebration of Life - Sharing time to begin at 5:00 PM. A dinner will follow the Celebration.
