Deborah L.
Lang
August 12, 1950 – May 25, 2026
Deborah L. (Walters) Lang, age 75, of Centreville, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by family and dear friends. Born on August 12, 1950, to Earl & Lavonne (Minger) Walters, Deb grew up on a farm and her love for animals developed early. She lived a life filled with care and compassion for others, an adventurous, fun-loving spirit, and deeply- rooted relationships with those she was closest to.
In 1971 Deb graduated from the Bronson School of Nursing. Soon after she was hired by Sturgis Hospital where she worked as an RN. Together with Linda Norman and Shari Hunt, Deb helped to formulate Norman Homecare in 1984, which later became known as Sturgis Home Health Care & Hospice. It was Deb’s mission in life to care for others and her patients and their families adored her and the warmth and genuineness she brought to every unique situation she encountered. After a dedicated and impactful career, spanning nearly 45 years, Deb began a well-deserved retirement in 2015.
Together, Deb and her husband Tom enjoyed the adventurous side of life, riding motorcycles, camping, and discovering unexpected backroad diners. Deb cherished time with family and friends, reminiscing about the past, sharing stories that had everyone laughing out loud, playing a lively game of Trivial Pursuit, and making new memories. Deb also enjoyed cozy evenings at home watching movies and game shows, with Werther’s candy and an orange soda never far from reach. One of Deb’s greatest joys was cheering on and supporting those she loved, faithfully keeping up with everyone’s sports, activities, and accomplishments.
Her generous heart shined through in the thoughtful way she loved others. She had a special talent for finding just the right gifts and cards to give, whether something silly, deeply personal, or perfectly practical, Deb always chose with care for the people in her life.
And Deb was a keeper. A keeper of memories, a keeper of cards, and a keeper of photographs. She held tightly to the little things because they reminded her of the people she loved most.
Deb was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Lang, who passed away only a few months ago and her brother Stephen Walters, who passed away in 2020. Deb was the cherished aunt to Eric (Colleen) Walters and their children Evan, Luke, Alex and Andrew; and to Stephen (Jennifer) Walters and their children Henry and Lucy. Deb was a loving sister-in- law to Tony (Gina) Lang and their children, Mark and Tarah; Fred (Kim) Lang and their children, Kyle and Paul (Jocelyn) and Tim (Debbie) Lang and their son, Matthew (Jamie). In addition, Deb will be dearly missed by devoted cousins, lifelong friends, dear neighbors from her community, those she worked with, and many extended family members.
A Celebration of Life for Deb will be announced at a later date.
