Dale Jones, age 78 of Constantine, MI, passed away Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 at his home. He was born in Constantine on June 21, 1933, a son of Arthur and Alice (Leister) Jones. Dale graduated from Constantine High School in 1951 and served the US Army 3rd Armored Division in Germany from 1953 to 1955. On February 21, 1953 Dale married Alma Dieffenderfer at Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine. She preceded him in death May 14, 1990. Dale was a former longtime member of American Legion Post # 223. He served 37 years on the Constantine Fire Dept. serving as Chief for the majority of his service. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Constantine Masonic Lodge #35, and was awarded Constantine Citizen of the year in 1972. Dale enjoyed anything to do out of doors with nature which was second only to his love of family. Dale was employed as Production Supervisor at the E.L. Nickell Co. in Constantine for over 30 years. Prior he owned and operated the Gulf Gas Station in Constantine.Surviving are his daughter Judy (Kenny) Garn, sons Steven (Janice) Jones, and Robert Jones all of Constantine, grandchildren Clif Johansen, Jennie Jones, David Jones and Payne Jones, twin brother Dan (Janis) Jones, brother in law George Dieffenderfer, sisters in law Betty Jones and Pauline Jones, special friend and caregiver Mickie Town, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers Paul and Richard Jones. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Reception Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, from 5:30-8 p.m. at 16072 Mintdale Road, Constantine. Interment of Ashes will be in the Constantine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, Hospice of Three Rivers or West Michigan Cancer Center.
