Chloe Retta Wood, age 82 of Sturgis, passed away Sunday, January 24th, 2010 at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Jay Co., IN on October 10, 1927, a daughter of Marvin and Helen M. (Richards) Rigby. On March 22, 1946 she married Charles B. Wood in Pennville, IN. He preceded her in death March 16, 1983. Chloe worked at Sturgis Molded Products from 1978 to 1993. She previously worked at Continental Can in Three Rivers and PKG Inc. of Sturgis. She enjoyed sewing, crochet, baking, and cherished time spent with her family. Chloe was a member of the Eagles Aux. # 2303, and the 1st Grandmothers Club of Michigan. Surviving are her son Jerry Michael (Iva Greer) Wood of Centreville, granddaughter Sue Ellen (Jerry) Clouse, Sturgis, great grandson Ryan Dylan Scott Clarkson, sisters Erma Nearon of Portland, In, Virginia Flatt of Anderson, IN, Mary Lou (Kenneth) Ball of Sturgis, brother Max Rigby of Berne, IN, special friend Mrs. Robbie Faile and family of Three Rivers, sister in law Rose Rigby, Centreville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ike Stroble, and brothers Harold, Joseph and Kemyss H. Rigby. Relatives and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville where Religious Services will be held Friday at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Kyle Foster of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Three RIvers will officiate. Interment will be in the Nottawa Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
