Charles Walter Parker,age 73 of Centreville, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Saturday, December 11th, 2010 at Bronson Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Centreville, on March 13, 1937, a son of William and Bertha (Howard) Parker. On August 19, 1955, he married Barbara Radley in LaGrange, Indiana.
Charles was employed by Continental Can/Fonda Group for 42 years, the Intermediate School District for 12 years in part-time food service delivery, and provided security for the Centreville United Methodist Church. Charles was a member of the Boys Scouts of America Troop #107 and a lifetime member of the St. Joseph County Mounted Division. He was also a volunteer Centreville firefighter and a little league coach and umpire.
Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Radley) Parker, sons John Henry (Brenda) Parker, Charles Roger (Wendy) Parker, daughter Robin Elaine Parker, grandchildren Elizabeth, John, Lillian, Chelsey and Charles Parker, Paul & William Lowrey, great grandchildren Kyle Lowrey and Izaac Shepherd, and sister Bernice Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lottie Parker, brother Tyde Parker, and sister Clarecy Parker, all in infancy, sister Grace Knaak, brothers Arlo Parker, Oscar Parker, and Earl Parker.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 10-11 am at the Centreville United Methodist Church, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.. Reverend Dr. Karin Orr will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Centreville United Methodist Church are welcome.
