Carl D. Mercer, age 70 of Sturgis, passed away  Monday, October 17th, 2011 at the Sturgis Hospital. He was born in Constantine, MI on March 20, 1941,  a son of  Edgar "Sam" and June (Conder) Mercer. Carl attended school in Constantine. He worked as a self employed truck driver in the RV industry and also worked as a timber buyer. Carl enjoyed showing horses and dog racing.



Surviving are his daughters Christina (Edward) McDonald of White Pigeon, Cynthia (Dan) Cummings of Sturgis, Constance (Wayne) Henegar of Three Rivers, son Christopher Mercer of Sturgis, their mother Charlotte (Mallo) Mercer, grandchildren Chad McDonald, Ammara Kanjanayothee, Casey Jo Smith, Corey Mercer, Katie Losik, Kayla Henegar, Brandon Mercer, Addam Walker, Garrett Henegar, Ashley Goss, Courtney Mercer, Kyle Mercer, and Dakota Mercer, four great grandchildren Blayton McDonald, Makenzie McDonald, Sage Mercer and Destiny Mercer, sisters  Carol Hitchcock and Sharon Mercer and brothers  Scott Mercer and  Jerry Mercer.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles and William Mercer.



Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o Eley Funeral Home. Online messages may be left for the family below.
