Bette Lou Schwartz, age 78, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 28, 2026.

Bette was born on October 5, 1947, in Three Rivers, MI, to Lewis Ray Shears and Belle Elizabeth Dunkel and was a lifelong resident of Centreville, MI where she shared her love to care for other people working at Fairview Nursing Home as a CNA for many years before retiring.

Bette was known for her open-door house and love for everyone and anyone. Family or not you were always welcome in her home and were expected to leave with a full belly. She enjoyed spending time at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. And you could often find her on her porch watching the hummingbirds.

Bette is survived by her husband Christian Schwartz, Sons Kurt (Therese) Schwartz, Steven Schwartz and her daughter Amy (Jovi Guico) Schwartz. She also leaves behind two sisters Pat Rice and Sharon McCann and two brothers, Harold Shears and Art Shears that she loved and cherished, along with 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who were the light of her world.

Bette was preceded in death by her son Gary Schwartz.

Per Bette’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will happen at a later date.
